NBA groom gets cold feet

Most weddings go off without a hitch. But every once in a while, the blessed event gets a surprise twist. This past weekend, NBA star Richard Jefferson's wedding left guests asking a big question: "Where the heck is the groom?"

According to the New York Post, Jefferson was scheduled to marry former New Jersey Nets dancer Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols. Alas, a few days before the big day, Jefferson called off the ceremony and broke up with his fiancée.

Unfortunately, nobody told a significant number of guests. Many showed up at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City expecting to see a bride, a groom, some vows, and a kiss. Instead they found that Jefferson had gone MIA. However, he did lend his friend his AMEX Black credit card and told him to treat the guests to a fun night without him.

The confusion led to some spectacular spikes in Search. Lookups on "richard jefferson wedding" surged 5,687%, and interest in the jilted bride was similarly enthusiastic. Queries on "kesha ni'cole nichols pictures" went from zip into the thousands overnight.

According to various sources from the Buzz, the wedding cost around $2 million. Next time, may we suggest city hall?

Mariah Carey's New Video: Obsessed

Mariah Carey's new video, for her latest single Obsessed, debuted this week. The buzz is that she dressed like Eminem who is the would be stalker in the video. She actually looks good as a boy. Mariah clad in a hot little number flaunts what she's got throughout the video while her stalker gets up close but not personal. Thank goodness!

Lounge reopens in Chelsea (NYC)

After a brief hiatus the hot and trendy retail store, Lounge has reopened in a new location. However, they never really went out of business. Once they shut the doors in Soho, they moved their going-out-of business sale to the old church that used to house the seedy Limelight and Avalon night clubs. Now, they are open and ready for business on 6th Avenue between 19th and 20th Streets in the neighborhood of Chelsea in NYC. Go to Lounge to pick out some hot pieces to build your club ensembles around.

Barack Obama Becomes the 44th President of the US

Congratulations to President Barack H. Obama. He was sworn in yesterday as the 44th President of the United States of America.

People went out into the blustery cold to see the inauguration and the parade that followed. There were reports that there were about 1.5 million people in Washington, DC watching the inauguration on the National Mall. Beyonce in "Obsessed"

Beyonce is not only obsessed with success, but also with her acting career. Get a load of her in the movie trailer for the upcoming thriller Obsessed. She looks hot and so does her co-star Idris Elba (Daddy's Little Girls, This Christmas). The film will be released April 24, 2009.

NYC Restaurant - Week Winter 09

Go out and try those new restaurants you haven't sampled yet. New York City's Restaurant Week runs January 18 - 23 and 25 - 30th. Three Course Prix-Fixe meals will cost you $24.07 for lunch and $35.00 not including beverages, taxes and gratuity.

There are at least 250 restaurants participating. Here's a list of some participating establishments.

Jill Scott is Pregnant

In an entry from a Jill Scott fan page on Facebook the powerful singer and actress spills the beans.

"Jill Scott is pregnant with her first child, our beloved soul singer and actress revealed to reporters at the Television Critics Association conference in Los Angeles on Friday.

Promoting her new HBO series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, based on the popular novels by Alexander McCall Smith, Scott said she discovered that she was pregnant just before leaving for Botswana where she filmed the show.

"The first trimester I spent in Botswana," said the star, who is due April 25. "That was one of the biggest challenges of my life. First trimester! You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour days."

Still, the actress, who is engaged to drummer Lil' John Roberts, says she's glad she went through with the plans to film. "My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can do this, so I did it."

Scott, 36, is a three-time Grammy Award winner and star of the 2007 Tyler Perry film Why Did I Get Married?"
